About the Film:

Rock the Cradle follows the journey of a troubled inner voice of a new mother, as she finds herself trapped in a dark space with her new baby. She struggles to find her own voice in the voice of many others, as she grapples with Post Partum Depression.

Director Biography:

Playback Magazine’s 2020 list of 10 to Watch recipient, Asis Sethi is a Canadian filmmaker and television personality who graduated from the Film & Television Program at Humber College where she currently teaches Film & TV Direction. Her career in broadcasting spans over 15 years as a producer, host and a reporter on several lifestyle shows. Her REMI Award winning short film on menstruation titled ‘A Bloody Mess’ was screened at over 30 film festivals worldwide and was named as one of the best films on periods alongside some Oscar winning films in the Period magazine. Her 16-episode documentary series on the historical Sikh shrines in India titled ‘Darshan Dekh Jeeva’ which received the Rogers Documentary Fund has been broadcasted on OMNI Television nationally. She has also directed a documentary on post 9/11 effects on turban wearers in North America which also premiered nationally on OMNI Television. Asis’s most recent short film on postpartum depression called ‘Rock the Cradle’ has been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts. She is currently in the development stage of her feature film titled ‘Slam Dunk, Sehaj!’ through CineFAM and Caribbean Tales’ Limitless program.
